The inaugural Midwest 10K run took place yesterday with a great turn out of people taking part in the run and also helping out on the day.
The Midwest 10K committee would like to thank all those who took part in the race and who also helped out on the day. Particular thanks must go to the Shannon Knights who provided all the refreshments for the day as well as putting on a great evenings entertainment. Thanks must also go to the Order Of Malta who were on hand in case anyone took ill (thankfully everyone finished the run in one piece!) and also to Lawrence Murray who was the photographer on the day.
The race itself was highly competitive with the men's run culminating in a particularly close finish. The top three positions in the Men and Women's race were as follows:

2nd Mick Darcy 38.12
3rd Daithi O'Connell 38.21
Women
1st Loretta Duggan 41.29
2nd Ann Reidy 45.56
3rd Olive Liddane/Christina Ogran 47.27
